E-Liquid Guide Switzerland: PG/VG, Nicotine Salt and the Right Flavour
June 25, 2026 · 5 min read
The e-liquid is the heart of every vape: it decides flavour, vapour and how strong the throat hit is. Switching from a disposable to a refillable pod system means choosing your liquid for the first time. Here are the four things that matter.
1. PG/VG ratio
Liquids mix propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG):
- More PG (50/50): stronger throat hit, intense flavour, ideal for pods and MTL.
- More VG (30/70): more vapour, smoother, for high-power devices.
For pods and beginners, 50/50 is the safe choice.
2. Nicotine salt vs freebase
- Nicotine salt: smooth draw even at 20 mg/ml, fast uptake, perfect for pods.
- Freebase: harsher at high strength, better for low mg and bigger devices.
In Switzerland the limit is 20 mg/ml.
3. Choosing the flavour
Four families: fruity, ice/menthol, dessert/sweet and tobacco. Tip: stay in your usual disposable's family, the switch feels seamless. Everything is available without nicotine too.
4. Refilling, done right
- Open the pod, pour liquid along the wall (no bubbles in the central channel).
- Close it, wait 3 to 5 minutes so the wick soaks, otherwise the coil burns.
- Take the first puffs gently.
Prefer prefilled? Grab ready pods, e.g. for the ELFBAR ELFA Pro. Liquids from our Swiss warehouse, free shipping from CHF 29, e.g. to Zürich.
In short
- 50/50 PG/VG + 20 mg nicotine salt = the standard for pods.
- Keep your usual disposable's flavour family.
- Always wait a little after refilling.
