Many modern vapes are rechargeable, from hybrid systems like the LOST MARY BM6000 to pod systems like the ELFA Pro Kit. Charged correctly, the battery and device last much longer. Here's how it works.
Which vapes can actually be charged?
Not every vape has a charging port:
- Disposable vapes (e.g. ELFBAR 600): no charging port, the device is finished once the liquid runs out, please dispose of it correctly as electronic waste.
- Hybrid systems (ELFBAR AF5000, LOST MARY BM6000, LUX 7000): rechargeable battery, the liquid comes from interchangeable refill pods.
- Pod systems (ELFA Pro, ELFX, SKE Crystal Plus): rechargeable device, you only swap the pod.
You can see whether your model is rechargeable in the specifications of each product on our site, under "Rechargeable".
Step by step: charging your vape correctly
- Use a USB-C cable. Practically all current models (ELFBAR, LOST MARY, SKE) charge via USB-C. A cable is usually not included, any standard USB-C cable works.
- Use a normal power adapter. Ideal is an adapter rated 5V/1A to 5V/2A, i.e. an ordinary phone charger. High-power fast chargers offer no benefit and put unnecessary strain on the small battery.
- Watch the LED. While charging, the status LED lights up or flashes. On most models it goes out or changes colour as soon as the battery is full.
- Unplug when full. Small vape batteries don't like permanent "overcharging" on the mains, even though a protection circuit is built in.
Typical charging times
| Model | Battery | Charging time (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| ELFBAR AF5000 | 650 mAh | 60 bis 90 min. |
| LOST MARY BM6000 | 650 mAh | 60 bis 90 min. |
| LOST MARY LUX 7000 | 800 mAh | 75 bis 100 min. |
| ELFA Pro Kit | 500 mAh | 45 bis 70 min. |
The most common mistakes
Vape not charging? First check the cable and adapter with another device. Then gently clean the USB-C port (dry cotton swab), pocket lint is the most common cause.
Battery drains quickly? Cold noticeably reduces battery performance. In winter, don't leave your vape in the car or outdoors.
Vape gets hot while charging? Slight warming is normal. If the device gets really hot, unplug it immediately and stop using it.
Safety first
Never charge a vape unattended overnight, not on flammable surfaces, and only with an intact cable. Faulty devices don't belong in household waste, but at an electronic-waste collection point.
