The market for vape brands has become hard to keep track of in Switzerland. Almost every brand now covers several device classes, from disposable through hybrid to pod, and the names all sound alike. This overview sorts out the main manufacturers, tells you what they stand for and where the differences lie in everyday use.
The big names
ELFBAR. Probably the best-known brand in Switzerland. From the small disposable stick through pod systems (ELFA Pro, ELFX) to large hybrid devices, it covers the lot. Wide flavour range, good availability. A typical starting point is the ELFBAR 600 as a disposable.
LOST MARY. Part of the same group as ELFBAR and at least as prominent. Strong on hybrid systems (BM6000, LUX 7000), but also on pods (Tappo Air) and small disposable models. Popular for its round, soft casings and its large flavour range, such as the LOST MARY BM6000.
SKE. Known above all for the Crystal range. The pods are popular, the format handy, the range compact but solid. A good example is the SKE Crystal Plus Kit.
Other brands. Alongside these, names like VOZOL, Sikary or Instaflow are around in Switzerland. They are present in some device classes, but appear more variably in the range. If you're open to brands, you're best off looking straight into the right category rather than committing to one manufacturer: disposable vapes or pod systems.
The brand is secondary, the device class is what counts
A common misconception: people look for the "best brand". In practice the device class matters more, because that's what decides handling, running costs and waste:
| Class | Example brands | Feature |
|---|---|---|
| Disposable | ELFBAR, LOST MARY, VOZOL | ready to use, not rechargeable |
| Hybrid | LOST MARY, ELFBAR | battery + refill pod |
| Pod system | ELFBAR, SKE, LOST MARY | battery + interchangeable pod |
Within a class the brands differ less than you'd think. ELFBAR and LOST MARY come from the same group anyway, and the technology is similar across manufacturers. You make the bigger difference when you switch from disposable to a refillable system.
What to look out for when buying
- Genuine products: counterfeit vapes often fail to meet the Swiss limits. At iVape, everything comes from the Swiss warehouse, genuine and 18+.
- Device class before brand: first decide between disposable, hybrid or pod, then pick the brand.
- Nicotine: in Switzerland 20 mg/ml at most. Which strength suits you is covered by the nicotine strength guide.
- Running costs: with pods and hybrids it's the price of the replacement parts that counts, not just the price of the device.
If you don't want to commit, comparing the individual ranges will help you further: ELFBAR models and LOST MARY models.
In short
- ELFBAR & LOST MARY: the widest range, the same group, from disposable to pod.
- SKE: strong on the Crystal pods, solid and handy.
- VOZOL, Sikary, Instaflow: present depending on the class, best searched via the category.
- More important than the brand is the device class: disposable, hybrid or pod.
Nicotine (in many products up to 20 mg/ml) is highly addictive. For adults aged 18 and over only. If you don't smoke, you shouldn't start vaping either.
